How we helped a prestigious cancer research organisation to continue its vital work during the pandemic
December 17, 2021

Once again Quadris is proud to extend its expert capabilities to yet another distinguished organisation operating at the very heart of the world’s healthcare services.

European Organisation for Research and Treatment of Cancer (EORTC) is a non-governmental, non-profit cancer research organisation. Its primary goal is to coordinate and conduct international translational and clinical research to improve the standard of cancer treatment for patients.

THE CHALLENGE.

EORTC was established by oncologists who felt that comprehensive research is often beyond the means of individual European laboratories and hospitals, and would be best accomplished through multidisciplinary, multinational efforts.

But operating across a pan-European landscape presented a challenge to a truly collective approach when it came to the important task of reviewing radiotherapy treatment plans. These plans were supported by devices which were typically installed in the hospitals and as a result only accessible locally.

With a research network consisting of over 5,500 collaborators in more than 930 institutions in 27 countries and a database of 198,000 patients, EORTC needed a solution that would provide remote access to this vital information.

To add to an already challenging situation, the pandemic and subsequent lockdown had forced many people to work from home, making the need for secure, remote access even more vital than ever.

THE SOLUTION.

EORTC made the decision to invest in a Citrix environment in order to deliver a comprehensive virtualisation solution.

This now provides both EORTC staff and its collaborators with access to all the applications they need for work (via web, virtual, mobile, or SaaS), from any device and any location, through one easy-to-use portal.

Equally importantly, in order to keep hackers at bay and provide truly secure remote access, Quadris’ expert technicians installed Citrix ADC Gateway (formerly Citrix Access Gateway).

Furthermore, Quadris was engaged to provide ongoing support to the entire Citrix environment. This will ensure that all systems continue to operate at peak efficiency, are available at all times, and are easily accessible by all authorised users.
