Major Incident Alert ! – at approximately 4am GMT today an update to Crowdstrike Anti-Virus product has caused Windows Operating System to crash. This is resulting in major outages to all systems running on Windows and includes Citrix virtual desktops. Our engineers are investigating this issue and updates will be posted here.
19 Jul 24 08:30 – Crowdstrike have issued recovery advice but this needs to be applied on a server by server basis. Our engineers are deployed conducting this work and your organisations will be notified of progress. Please do not contact us as we are aware and fully deployed to resolve this incident as quickly as possible.
19 Jul 24 09:00 This incident is being reported in the mainstream media as a Microsoft issue which is incorrect. The incident is related to the Crowdstrike anti-virus product which causes Windows operating systems to BSOD (blue screen of death).
Our engineers are bringing back servers by applying recommended patch to affected servers.
19 Jul 24 09:30 – Our engineers continue to work on the recovery advised by Crowdstrike and we are brining customers’ systems back online successfully. Please be assured we have all teams involved in the recovery process.
19 Jul 24 11:00 Crowdstrike have issued a full statement from George Kurtz, the CEO:
“Crowdstrike is actively working with customers impacted by a defect found in a single content update for Windows hosts. Mac and Linux hosts are not impacted.
This is not a security incident or cyberattack. The issue has been identified, isolated and a fix has been deployed.
Our team is fully mobilised to ensure the security and stability of Crowdstrike customers.”
19 Jul 24 12:20 Last Update here – we have most networks operational now. No further updates will take place here as these will be made directly with each customer.
